The ABEC Ambassador initiative sets out to discover and celebrate businesses who have committed to sound ethical standards in their operations to become a model for others to emulate.
Who is ABEC 2020 Ambassador?
The Ambassador is a corporate organisation or public agency that has demonstrated responsible corporate citizenship in its dealings and operations. The worthy ambassador exhibits the following attributes:
- Accountability – Taking responsibility for all its actions and inactions even when it is not convenient to do so.
- Integrity – Known to make full disclosure of the true position of the business to customers, investors, regulators and in fact every stakeholder that it deals with. Additionally, puts in place quality policies and a framework that consistently allows them to be met.
- Loyalty – Follow due process and ensure that the quality of product or services offered match the promises made to the public.
- Respect – Treating customers, investors and stakeholders with highest level of professionalism and conduct.
- Law Abiding – Compliance with the rule of law, regulations, and guidelines established by appropriate authorities and often not found to be breaching procedures.
- Leadership – Having in place unambiguous internal structure that define roles and responsibilities for officers, management and staff.

It is expected of the ambassador to have in place the following documentation as evidence of subscription to ethical attitude and culture.
- Code of ethics and conduct policy framework
- Evidence that staff have been trained on business ethics in the last three years.
Categories Open to Nomination
There are two categories of nominations and for this award we adopt the classification based on level of employment.
- Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. Businesses that employ between 10 and 200 hundred persons.
- Large Enterprises. Businesses with employment above 200 hundred.

Business Membership Organisations (BMOs), Chambers of Commerce, Professional Associations and other membership organisations are encouraged to nominate businesses that meet the criteria of an ABEC ambassador described above by filling out the nomination form carefully, completely, and truthfully.
At the point of nomination, the supporting documents may be attached. However, if the documents are not ready at the time of submitting nomination, the company nominated shall be required to forward the necessary documents to the ABEC 2020 secretariat before November 23rd, for the nomination to be completed. An organisation can nominate only one business for each category of the award and maximum of two businesses.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]Selection Process
- Screening of filled details and attached supporting documents.
- Panel of jury will thoroughly, comprehensively, and impartially rate and rank nominees according to criteria established to measures business commitment to ethical practices in management ideologies and everyday operations.
